Abraham was confronted with a season of loss - of Ishamel, of Isaac, and soon of Sarah. It became a time for the trying of his heart - love and trust for God is pitted by circumstance against every other affection. Was Isaac and the promises surrounding him such an idol that Abraham would cling to his son over God? How are you doing with the affections of your heart in the face of trial?
